Gateway Auctions was founded in 2002 by director David Sunderland, from a portable building within a livestock auction. David had several years of experience working for a national auction firm in Manchester before leaving to set up his own business at the age of 24.
Auctions were live, in person, for the first ten years until all sales moved to our timed online platform, enabling us to give bidders a fair chance at securing their desired item wherever they are in the world.
Gateway Auctions is now a thriving, commercially minded and well-respected firm of auctioneers attracting 15,000 buyers every year. Many of our customers return time and again because of the trusted reputation we have earned and the quality service we provide.
People who come to us, whether buyer or seller, know they can expect a service delivered with honesty and integrity. We are passionate about the sectors we operate in and that enthusiasm and willingness to deliver shows through from that very first contact we make with a customer.
For the first 15 years, our business was based in Gisburn, Lancashire, before we moved to our own purpose-built site in Whalley in 2017.
Our base offers us to take delivery of a wide range of items and ample space to devote to displaying them properly. Our team includes many long-serving members of staff who have developed an expert knowledge across a range of sectors and take pride in our established brand and the professional service we offer.
We always encourage buyers to pay us a visit so that they can inspect a particular item, browse what we have on offer or just so they can see what we are all about. Fresh coffee is always on the go and we’d love you to come and share a cup.
